Help us make sure no hero ever falls through the cracks.

Founded in 1907, the San Diego Fireman's Relief Association serves member firefighters during times of extreme need. Never has this been more true than now.
San Diego firefighters were at ground zero after 9/11. They risked their lives to save life and property during Firestorm 2007. Some serve our country in Iraq and Afghanistan. And of course, there are those sacrifices which do not often make news headlines- firefighters who die before their time due to cancer, heart disease, and stroke.
But you can help give back to those who give their lives for our community. By making a tax-deductible donation to the Benevolent Fund, you are helping to ensure that no hero will ever slip through the cracks.
Congratulations to the graduates of the 70th Fire Academy!

More than 20 men and women completed their initial training with the San Diego Fire Rescue Department on Friday, June 20th, 2008 and now begin their careers as San Diego Firefighters.
San Diego Fireman's Relief Association was there to wish them well and record the ceremony for family and friends that could not be there to celebrate with the graduates. We are currently preparing the video for distribution on our website and expect it will be completed by July 7, 2008. Check back soon!

2008 Benefits Information
As many of you are aware, the city of San Diego did not release the new flexible benefits program until early last week. After a thorough analysis, your Relief Association has determined that it is not cost effective to offer our members Safeguard Dental and Vision plans after July 31st, 2008.
If you wish to continue dental or vision insurance you must sign up with the city's plan before the open enrollment deadline, or seek individual coverage on your own.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The Relief Association is always looking to find the best rates for our members. This year the city is offering a competetive plan with a more affordable rate.
If you have any questions, please contact Mike KIrkeby, our Executive Director.
Please note, this does not affect the copay reimbursement benefits you enjoy for Dental and Vision costs as a member of the Relief Association. You may still submit your receipts for reimbursement.
Help shape the future of your Relief Association!
We are currently running an online survey to improve the level of service we offer to our members. Firefighter and EMT members who take the survey (lasting less than 5 minutes) will receive a free SDFRA auto decal!
Click the link below to be directed to the survey page.

The Results are IN!

CALLING ALL FIREFIGHTERS, families, and friends!
We still need your help!
In January, we sent our members information about an easy way to help raise money for the Benevolent Fund- by becoming a participant in the Ralph's Community Giving program. But so far, only a handful of members have signed up! This is a limited time program and will be over in August. If we don't take advantage of the program now, it will be too late!
Please take a moment to sign up and shop at Ralph's whenever possible. Tell your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers about the program and send them to our website! And if you have questions or problems signing up, please call the Relief Association office. This program has raised a lot of money for the LA Relief Association because their members got involved. It only takes a second to sign up- instructions are below.
Now supporting your local heroes is easier than ever! Every time you swipe your Ralphs Club Card at any Ralph's store, they will donate a percentage of the sale to the Benevolent Fund. Shop at Ralphs and support your local heroes!
Grab your Ralph's Club Card and go to http://www.ralphs.com/ccprogram.htm. If you don't have a Ralphs Club Card, you can apply for one at any Ralph's grocery store.
Follow the instructions on their website to register as a participant and select the San Diego Fireman's Relief Association as your organization. Our NPO number is 90258.
Swipe your Ralphs Club Card everytime you shop, and tell your friends and family to sign up as well. The more people that use the program, the more we will raise for the Benevolent Fund.
A local business has partnered with SDFRA to raise money for the benevolent fund- you can help! (and get pretty at the same time!)
The Institute for Aesthetic Medicine began accepting donations on our behalf several weeks ago and recently, Esthetician Susie Savage dropped by to say hello and tell us about the program. Due to the generosity of the staff and their clientele, IAM has raised over 1,000 dollars for the Benevolent Fund!
Anyone making a 10.00 or greater donation to the SDFRA by going to IAM is eligible to receive a microdermabrasion treatment or a photofacial for FREE! That's right, free. These services usually cost $249.00 and $65.00 respectively - that's a huge savings and a tremendous gift to the SDFRA.
Tell anyone in your life who wants a little pampering to head down to the Institute for Aesthetic Medicine and help support their favorite organization at the same time. IAM's website is www.sdbodyimaging.com.
We are upgrading our website to serve our members better!
