Donor Spotlight - May 2008

The Northrup Grumman Corporation

and

The Pacific Western Bank Foundation

This month we are featuring two donors- the Northrup Grumman Corporation and The San Diego Foundation, both of which made grants to the Benevolent Fund in April.

Early in the month, our Executive Director Mike Kirkeby was contacted by Janice Kawamura, Manager of Human Resources and Administration for Northrup Grumman Integrated Systems in San Diego. Janice explained that Northrup Grumman had designated SDFRA for a large donation.

A few weeks later, Mike, Dan Faddis, and Dave Pilkerton attended a ceremony at Northrup Grumman's facility in 4S Ranch, where Janice and representatives from Northrop Grumman presented the San Diego Fireman's Relief Association with a large donation.

SDFRA was joined by the firefighters of Station 33-B: Captain Justus Norgord, Engineer Chuck Adams, Firefighter-Paramedic Aaron Boyd, and Firefighter David Straus. The ceremony took place during Northrop Grumman's annual employee appreciation event and was attended by hundreds of employees and community members.

SDFRA and the firefighters of Sta. 33-B accepted a donation from Northrup Grumman at a ceremony attended by hundreds of Northrup Grumman employees and community members.

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.

SDFRA received more great news from the Pacific Western Bank Foundation at The San Diego Foundation. They made a large grant to the Benevolent Fund for the purpose of supporting local firefighters who were injured, displaced, or lost their homes during Firestorm 2007.

The San Diego Foundation is San Diego's leading resource for information about charitable giving and community needs. They encourage and support meaningful dialogue on issues affecting each of our communities and work with philanthropists to develop creative solutions to meet critical community needs.

Since their inception in 1975, The San Diego Foundation has helped public-spirited citizens find ways to address community problems. They manage more than 1,050 charitable funds. Their donors support numerous organizations and serve a variety of community needs. Their donors and funds all share a common purpose: to make San Diego a better place in which to live, work and play.

On behalf of all our member firefighters and their families,
